Back after a break

Back after a break

Morning Everyone, apologies for the break in posting but we’ve been distracted and kept busy with a number of activities and events here on the farm and also away from the farm, but hopefully we can get back into a rhythem of regular posts.

A Wet and muddy yard on a sunny winter morning.

January and February has been particularly wet and that has caused a number of issues across the farm yard and also the fields, many of these are common to every winter. One of the time consuming tasks has been Meg the mule has had so more issues with her feet but I’m planning to go through that as a separate blog post as there is a few things which some of you might find interesting.

We’ve also had some high winds which have broken off some branches from some of our older willow trees this has resulted in some damage to fences so there has been work to clear the wood and to repair the damage. We still have a bit more to do on that.

One of the things that we have also spotted is that with winter removing some of the leaves from the trees and hedges we have been able to see were there are a number of weak points. So as part of that I have been looking to get suitable fencing materials ready to allow work to be done to get a new fence added and some of the weak areas repaired/ reinforced before we end up with the horses or the Sheep deciding to take a wander through to next door’s arable field!

So as always there is plenty going on and hopefully I can get a few more blog posts done to keep you up to date with what we are upto.

The sheep were straying far from shelter when we had few days of snow.
