Its been a while since we did the last post, this has been due to being kept busy with a whole lot of other activities some of which have taken over all of the spare time that we had.

However we have hopefully managed to put that issue to bed.

So what is happening here on the farm? Well the grass is growing well in the bulk of the fields and we are about to get all of the hay making equipment out so that as soon as we have a suitable window of good weather (about 7 days) we can start.

The other task has been that we have been doing some major repairs to on of our buildings, in particular the roof area so this has involved stabilising the walls and then removing the old damaged roof, so there has been a lot of time spent putting new roof beams in and some new roof sheets in place to get the building back to being wind and weather tight.

At the start of June we had also to carry out another set of repairs to the Stile on the public footpath. This stile suffers during the winter from the fact that a fresh water spring appears on the western side and this starts to wash out the soil in the area, we have tried to back fill this in the past but it does moved the material back out. The result was that the lower step was put back into place but with support posts put back into place but driven deeper into the ground.

On the Horse side of things, we are restricting grazing for the horses mainly due to Rosy (the cob) and Willow (the pony) being prone to laminitis. The other work that we have done with Meg the mule is that she has been wearing ‘Scoot boots’ since March and it seems to have had a good impact on her protecting her feet – fingers crossed that will continue.
